With the challenges that the year is presenting, the Junior Badminton Committee has agreed to solely hold the SA Open Championships for under 13, 15, 17 and 19’s.

We are inviting and encouraging as many players to enter and participate in the various age groups.

Badminton South Africa is wanting to send a team to the All Africa Under 15 and 19 Championships to be held later this year, August/September, in Cotonou, Benin. All Africa Championships consists of a team event and an individual event, with a maximum of 8 boys and 8 girls. Where once again, we get to compete against the best in Africa and showcase our talent. 

The senior and junior selectors (National Senior & Junior Coach – Stewart Carson & Andries Malan) will be scouting and choosing a squad from the hosted SA Open Championships. Those squad players will be tested and compete in trials, thereafter a final team will be chosen to represent South Africa.

Dates, times and finer details will be sent to the provinces.

We urge players, parents, coaches and provinces to support all junior tournaments being held and the SA Open Championships. (All precautionary covid measures will be in place)”
