The quarter-finals opened with the Mens Singles with Robert Summers proving to good for his Algerian opponent Youcef Medel winning his tie 22-20; 21-15 to advance to the semi-finals.
This was followed by the Womens Singles where Johanita Scholtz overpowered over her Algerian opponent, Tanina Mammeri comfortably 21-6; 21-11.
Jarred Elliot and Robert Summers dug deep to overcome their Egyptian opponents, A Elgamal and A Salah, in the Mens Doubles quarter-finals winning 21-15; 18-21; 21-11.
Women’s Doubles hopefuls Amy Ackerman and Deidre Laurens overpowered their opponents m Bielle and L Chai from Reunion 21-16; 21-14.
Team South Africa had 4 hopefuls in the Mixed quarter-finals. Robert White and deidre Laurens proved to powerful against the opponents from Mauritius, T Pultoo and K Dookhee, winning their tie 21-16; 21-8.
Jarred Elliott and Amy Ackerman easily overcame their Zambian opponents, K Mulenga and E Chipeleme 21-17; 21-13.
In the third tie, the Algerian brother and sister combination of K & T Mammer overcame Robert Summers and Demi Botha 21-16; 21-7
In the last tie of the evening, Anri Schoones and Cameron Coetzer were up against the Egyptians and went down narrowly in a hard fought game.
