Day 2 has come to an end with Team South Africa continuing to perform well in the tournament where we are represented in 2 semi-finals when play commences at 9am Uganda time tomorrow.
In the Women’s Doubles, Deidre Jordaan and Amy Ackerman are through to the semi-finals after beating the no 2 seeds from Algeria in the quarter-finals, 18-21; 21-6; 21-12. Jarred Elliott and Amy Ackerman beat the Ugandans 17-21; 21-19; 21-10.
Earlier in the day, Robert Summers went down narrowly to the no 2 seed in the Men’s in 3 sets after winning the first set. (16-21; 21-19; 21-18) Similarly, Amy Ackerman, went down narrowly to the 1 seed in the Women’s Singles after winning the first set. (19-21; 21-8; 21-14)
Deidre Jordaan also performed well in the Women’s Singles reaching the quarter-finals before bowing out 21-19; 21-18.
