After a tough couple of days, the finals of the SA International were played on Sunday morning 5th December.
In the Men’s Singles, the number 4 seed, Farough Aman from India overcame local Robert Summers who won the SA title earlier in the year at the Melvill Cup. After losing the first game 15-21, he fought back winning the last two games, 21-16, 21-12.
In the Women’s Singles, Johanita Scholtz continued her dominance of this discipline for the year and proved too good for Deidre Laurens Jordaan beating her two games to love, 21-10; 21-11.
The Men’s Doubles went to three games with the experience of Jarred Elliott and Robert Summers carrying them through to beat the up-and-coming juniors Robert White and Caden Kakora 21-15; 9-21; 21-15.
The Women’s Doubles was by Johanita Scholtz and Amy Ackerman by two games to love against Megan De Beer and Deidre Laurens Jordaan, 21-17; 21-11.
The mixed doubles was won by Robert White and Deidre Laurens Jordaan by a walk over due to Jarred Elliott injuring his right arm during the doubles finals and not been able to take the court with his partner, Amy Ackerman.
