Alberton Cat Tournament

The Alberton Cat Tournament was played on the 16 and 17 April 2021 for a place in the South African team which is to take part in the All Africa Mixed Championships in Uganda in September this year. Play took place under the watchful eye of the National Coach, Stewart Carson. This was on top of the minds for many of the participants taking part. There were good results for the young players coming through pushing for place in the team and win their national colours.

In the Mens Singles finals, Robert Summers of Northern Cape beat Caden Kakora of Free State 21-18; 21-15 after beating the number 1 seed, Ruan Snyman, in the semi-finals.

The Mens Doubles final was a close affair with Jarred Elliot and Jason Mann beating Ruan Snyman and Daniel Steyn 21-19; 22-20. Both pairs had difficult semi-finals coming through in 2 games to 1 respectively.

The Mixed Doubles final was also a close affair when Caden Kakora and Johanita Scholtz of Free State beating the number one seeds, Jarred Elliot and Amy Ackerman 16-21; 21-16; 21-17.

Johanita Scholtz comfortably won the Womens Singles while Amy Ackerman of EGBA and Tamsyn Smith of SGBA where comfortable winners of the Womens Doubles.
