All Africa 2021 Trials 19 to 21 February 2021

The trials for the All Africa Championships were held in Benoni over the weekend with 12 men and 9 women all fighting it out for their spot in the team and individual championships.

There was plenty of singles and doubles played over the 3 days with the selectors trying plenty of new combinations in the doubles and mixed doubles.

National coach Stewart Carson said ‘This is definitely the best badminton I have seen played by South Africans in the last 3 years. The standard has picked up which is fantastic to see especially as it is after Covid. I am confident to say that this will be the strongest team we have produced in the last 3 years’.

National selectors Chris Dednam and Klaas Visser were also in attendance and were both impressed with the standard of play.

Players in attendance were, Deidre Jordaan, Nita Scholtz, Michelle Butler Emmett, Diane Olivier, Amy Ackerman, Demi Botha, Tarryn Jacobs, Lee-Ann vd Westhuizen, Andries Malan, Daniel Steyn, Robert Summers, Jarred Elliott, Robert White, Caden Kakora, Cameron Coetzer, Jason Mann, Ruan Snyman, Emile Paulus, Dillan Schaap.

The team will be announced on Friday 26th February 2021.
